Simon Walde signs professional contract

Borussia have put pen to paper with youth talent Simon Walde.

“Simon was able to complete pre-season and the training camp with the first team and did well there, even though he was still playing with the U17s just last season. Simon has been with Borussia since he was 9 and we are particualrly pleased that another true Foal has made the leap to the first team. We are looking forward to seeing how he develops with us,” said sporting director Roland Virkus.

Walde himself said: “I’ve been with the club since I was 9 and I’m from the area. When you walk through the stadium it’s always the dream to someday sign a professional contract. The fact that it has now happened is an indescribable feeling. I’m beaming with pride, I’m overjoyed and really looking forward to the future here.

Due to a knee injury which he has since recovered from, Walde has only made one competitive appearance for the Borussia U19s so far this season. The 18-year-old took part in the pre-season training camp with the first team in Tegernsee and subsequently made his first appearance for the Foals in one of their friendlies.

Roland Virkus: "We are particularly pleased that another true foal has made the leap to the first team."
