Stindl named Borussia’s Player of the Month for January

Lars Stindl has been named Borussia’s Player of the Month for January, sponsored by “Cichon Personalmanagement”, collecting the most votes out of the four Foals nominated for the award.

Borussia’s Player of the Month for January is Lars Stindl. The attacker won 61% of the votes cast in the FohlenApp, beating the 34-year-old Jonas Hofmann (23%), Jonas Omlin (9%) and Ko Itakura (7%) to the award, sponsored by “Cichon Personalmanagement”.

Stindl registered three goals and two assists last month, despite missing one of our three January fixtures due to suspension. He was initially named on the bench against Bayer Leverkusen as the Bundesliga kicked off once again, but he was subbed on in the 54th minute and bagged a brace, reducing our deficit from 3-0 to 3-2. The skipper then regrettably picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the closing moments of the match, meaning he did not feature in our 1-0 defeat to Augsburg.

Stindl returned to the starting XI for the 4-1 win against Hoffenheim, proving just how important he is. He assisted the first two goals (both scored by Hofmann) before getting on the scoresheet himself to make it three. “Lars and Jonas played an excellent game. They brought exactly the kind of performance we needed, particularly their decisive perseverance and good focus at the crucial moments,” praised head coach Daniel Farke.

  • September: Christoph Kramer
  • October: Marcus Thuram
  • November: Jan Olschowsky
  • January: Lars Stindl
