Olschowsky back in training

Jan Olschowksy took part in the Foals’ first training session of the week on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the home game against Werder Bremen on Friday evening (20:30 CET), while Jonas Omlin and Tobias Sippel were still absent.

The unusual situation in the goalkeeper position also kept Borussia busy at the start of the new training week. The good news is that Jan Olschowsky was able to return to the pitch for the first time after recovering from a gastrointestinal illness and completed the session without any noticeable limitations. “He looked very good for his first training session in a few weeks. If his body reacts well to the work load, he has a good chance of being back at the weekend,” said head coach Daniel Farke.

Tobias Sippel fell down again in the away match on Saturday against Leipzig on the bruise suffered the previous week and could therefore only do recovery work on Tuesday. Jonas Omlin was still absent due to his thigh strain. “If everything goes perfectly, Tobi and Jonas will be back training on Wednesday, and then we would have all three goalkeepers back again, but we won’t be able to decide who will be in goal on Friday evening until quite late,” said Farke.

The Foals have two more sessions on the agenda before the home game on Friday evening (20:30 CET) against Werder Bremen: on Wednesday at 10:45 and on Thursday at the same time, with the latter taking place behind closed doors. Borussia will definitely be missing the two long-term injured players Julian Weigl (partial rupture of the syndesmosis ligament) and Tony Jantschke (meniscus tear), as well as the Ramy Bensebaini, who is suspended.

Ramy Bensebaini is suspended for the game against Bremen.
