Small group start the new week of training

The Foals started a new week of training this Tuesday. At the moment, head coach Daniel Farke is working with just nine outfield players.

There was plenty of space on the training pitch today, with 10 Borussia players on international duty and another four out injured. The group that head coach Daniel Farke was able to work with today, therefore, only contained nine outfield players. “With certain drills you are obviously a bit limited, but I am trying to look at it positively. You can also do exercises that are not possible with 20 or 25 players,” said Farke.

Lars Stindl and Christoph Kramer, who both picked up knocks near the end of the game against Bremen, had to sit out training today. Stindl didn’t take part in any training, while Kramer took part in a running session. “With both of them it is nothing crazy. Lars has a bruise, Chris has some back problems. The two will be back in team training again soon,” said Farke. Julian Weigl (partial sydnesmosis ligament rupture) and Tony Jantschke (meniscus tear). “Their recoveries are currently going very well, but it is difficult to give an exact prediction of when they will be back in team training,” said Farke.

Are training sessions on the pitch this week are public, from 10:45 CET on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as well as from 15:45 CET on Thursday. The Foals will also be training behind closed doors in the strength and condition facility on Wednesday and Friday afternoon.

In Jonas Omlin, Nico Elvedi (both Switzerland), Marcus Thuram (France), Ko Itakura (Japan), Yvandro Borges Sanches (Luxemburg), Joe Scally (USA), Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria), Manu Koné (France U21s), Luca Netz (Germany U21s) and Oscar Fraulo (Denmark U21s), there are currently ten first team players away on international duty.

Julian Weigl is back running on the pitch.
