Stindl named Borussia’s Player of the Month for May

Borussia’s departing captain, Lars Stindl, is the Player of the Month for May, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement.

The Player of the Month for May – presented by Cichon Personalmanagement – could only be one man: Lars Stindl. Accordingly, there was no vote in the FohlenApp this time. Borussia’s outgoing captain led the way with his performances on the pitch in the past month and was named player of the match in each of the four competitive matches in May. Stindl scored one goal each in the home game against Bochm (2-0) and the away matches in Dortmund (5-2) and Leverkusen (2-2). Against Augsburg, he was unable to score a goal himself, but he brilliantly set up Jonas Hofmann’s goal to make it 2-0.

During this game, the 34-year-old also gave his emotional farewell after eight years at Borussia. Stindl left the pitch for the last time as a VfL player in the 85th minute to a standing ovation and loud chants. “It was a very nice ending, almost everything was fitting. Of course, I would have liked to score again myself, but that’s not an issue at all. I am extremely happy on this successful day. We won, there were lots of fans in the stadium and I was given an amazing send-off. It was very emotional and is one of the highlights of my life,” said Stindl afterwards. “This day was something special. I will never forget it.”
