Foals complete first training session in front of 1,000 fans at Tegernsee

Borussia completed their first training session at the camp in Tegernsee on Sunday afternoon. Around 1,000 fans watched the session at FC Rottach-Egern’s ground.

The Foals set off for Bavaria on Saturday afternoon after the 2-1 friendly win over 1. FC Saarbrücken. The club checked in at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern and were welcomed by a big banner at reception, marking the fact that this is the 10th time that Borussia have visited for a pre-season training camp. “We have always had the perfect setup here over the last few years and I expect that to be the case once again. Tegernsee is a lovely place to be,” said Florian Neuhaus.

No serious injury for Borges Sanches

Sunday began with individual training for the Borussia players, as they looked to complete some recovery work after Saturday’s game. Yvandro Borges Sanches, who was forced off with around 10 minutes to go against Saarbrücken, suffered a knee strain. MRI and CT scans on Sunday morning showed no serious damage. He will remain with the squad in Tegernsee for medical treatment.

The team biked to the training ground at 16:00 CEST and started the session with some activation. Jonas Omlin and Nico Elvedi were both involved after being rested for the Saarbrücken game. Manu Koné was also spotted by the fans – he completed some rehabilitation exercises on the pitch as he works his way back from a knee injury. Hannes Wolf and Stefan Lainer (ill) were still missing.

Two sessions on Monday

The remaining players completed some passing drills and other game exercises as part of a 90-minute session. Joe Scally discussed the session afterwards: “It’s nice to have the fans so close to us here in training. This week is also really important for team building. We are together the whole time and you get to know each other better.”

Gerardo Seoane’s side will train twice on Monday in front of the fans (10:30, 16:45).

Squad for the training camp:

Jonas Omlin, Tobias Sippel, Moritz Nicolas, Max Brüll, Ko Itakura, Tony Jantschke, Marvin Friedrich, Nico Elvedi, Fabio Chiarodia, Joe Scally, Simon Walde, Luca Netz, Lukas Ullrich, Julian Weigl, Manu Koné, Oscar Fraulo, Rocco Reitz, Florian Neuhaus, Nathan Ngoumou, Patrick Herrmann, Robin Hack, Yvandro Borges Sanches, Alassane Plea, Franck Honorat, Tomáš Čvančara, Grant-Leon Ranos
