Netz back in team training

The Foals took to the training pitch on Tuesday morning with nine international s missing, but with Luca Netz back in the action. The focus now lies on Sunday’s Bundesliga game away at SV Darmstadt (17:30 CEST).

Luca Netz has returned to team training after a break of about two weeks. The 22-year-old missed the last two games against Bayer Leverkusen (0-3) and FC Bayern (1-2) with injury. “Luca is back in the fold again and is feeling 100%. We’ve obviously got to manage his muscular workload over the coming days, but I’m confident that he can make his return to the team on Sunday,” said Borussia head coach Gerardo Seoane.

Manu Koné and Christoph Kramer are continuing to reintegrate into team training. “They’ve both been progressively working their way back into action, and have been involved with every non-contact drill so far without experiencing any issues. Our aim is to gradually get them back to match fitness and in the position to contest in every 1-v-1 battle”, explained Seoane. Both goalkeepers Jonas Omlin (shoulder operation) and Jan Olschowsky (ill) were unable to participate in training today.

Čvančara first player back from international duty

Tomáš Čvančara is the first of ten players on international duty to return to Mönchengladbach. The Czech trained individually today. The nine remaining foals who were or are still with their national teams - Nico Elvedi (Switzerland), Max Wöber (Austria), Grant-Leon Ranos (Armenia), Yvandro Borges Sanches (Luxembourg), Joe Scally (USA), Ko Itakura (Japan), Lukas Ullrich (U20/Germany), Simon Walde (U19/Germany) und Fabia Chiarodia (U19/Italy) – will make their way back to Mönchengladbach over the next few days. U23 players Noah Andreas, Jacob Italiano, Phil Kemper, Tony Reitz, Mika Schroers and Shio Fukuda were involved in senior training today in order to practice certain drills to a higher standard.

Seoane’s team have another training session from 10:30 CEST tomorrow. The Swiss wants to use the three sessions on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to help his team get to grips with some tactical ideas. This means that they’ll take place behind closed doors. Gladbach will then play their fourth Bundesliga game of the season away at newly-promoted Darmstadt at 17:30 CEST on Sunday.
