An intense start to the new week of training

The Foals have begun their preparation ahead of their Bundesliga away match against VfL Bochum on Saturday (15:30 CEST).

Borussia had obviously hoped for a better start to their league campaign than two points from the first five matches. However, head coach Gerardo Seoane doesn’t feel that his team are losing faith in their approach. “Today I watched a team train that’s ready to improve and make a step up. The players took a lot on board and the challenges were aggressive. The intensity and the overall atmosphere was good,” said the Swiss after the first training session of the week on Tuesday morning.

Tomáš Čvančara was not able to take part in training (bruised thigh) and completed an individual session in this fitness area instead. “His recovery in the last few days has not been as quick as we’d hoped for. We’ll do everything we can to make sure that he’s fit for the weekend, but it will be a race against time,” said Seoane. Alassane Plea also went back into the changing rooms a little early, along with Nico Elvedi, Luca Netz and Manu Koné. “Lasso has a minor eye inflammation which is impairing his vision a little. For the others, it was a matter of managing their workloads; Saturday’s game was a big step up from what they’ve had to do in recent weeks,” explained Seoane.

The other three training sessions this week will all take place behind closed doors on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, before an away fixture against VfL Bochum awaits the Foals on Saturday (15:30 CEST). “We know what it’s like to play in Bochum and the atmosphere there. We’ll use this week’s training to assess what kind of qualities we’ll need to bring to the pitch in order to get the win in Bochum,” said Seoane.
