Taking the positive energy into a new week of training

As a new week gets underway, the Foals began preparations for Friday’s home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 (20:30 CEST). Four players were absent from today’s session, but should be able to return for Friday’s match.

Two days on from their first win of the season (3-1 at VfL Bochum), Borussia began preparing to host Mainz on Friday evening. “A win always has a positive impact on the mood within the team, although the team has been extremely focused in training over the last weeks as well,” said head coach Gerardo Seoane.

With the exception of Nico Elvedi, Ko Itakura, Max Wöber and Jordan, all the other members of the team were able to take part in a nearly 90-minute long session on Monday afternoon. “The four of them picked up slight knocks in Bochum. I expect that they will all be able to return in time for Friday night,” said Seoane. Tomáš Čvančara, who was sidelined for nearly two weeks due to painful bruising in his thigh, was able to come off the bench in Bochum and took part in full team training today.

The Foals will have three more training sessions this week, with Tuesday’s and Thursday’s sessions taking place behind closed doors. The session on Wednesday (10:30 CEST) will be open to the public. Borussia will then open matchday 7 at home against Mainz 05. “It’s a short week, but our aim is to prepare well and remain focused on the task at hand,” said Seoane.
