Preparations underway for return to competitive action

Borussia Mönchengladbach will end the first half of the season at home against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday (17:30 CET). The Foals began training ahead of their return to competitive action on Monday afternoon.

With temperatures hovering around freezing at the start of the new week, head coach Gerardo Seoane put his team through their paces on the training ground. The team took part in a nearly 90-minute session in preparation for Sunday's Bundesliga home game against VfB Stuttgart – their first of the new year. Seoane was without Hannes Wolf, who had missed Saturday's friendly (3-2 win) against Go Ahead Eagles due to illness. Fabio Chiarodia was also ill and missed today's session, while Luca Netz completed a running session instead as part of workload management. Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin (rehab following shoulder surgery), Lukas Ullrich (rehab following shoulder surgery) and Tomáš Čvančara (rolled ankle) all trained individually as they work towards a comeback. Franck Honorat returned to team training after having recovered from a bout of stomach flu.

The team will have six sessions left to prepare for their first home game of 2024. The Foals will train at 11:30 CET on both Tuesday and Wednesday, with a closed doors session in the afternoon on both days. The team will be given Thursday off before two more sessions behind closed doors on Friday and Saturday.
