Scally’s USA into Nations League final

Borussia right-back Joe Scally’s USA side have reached the final of the CONCACAF Nations League after a 3-1 extra-time win over Jamaica.

Borussia right-back Joe Scally was named in the starting eleven for the USA’s 3-1 extra-time victory over Jamaica in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League. The 21-year-old received a yellow card in the 12th minute and was substituted for Giovanni Reyna at half time. It then looked for a long time as if the USMNT were going to be eliminated by Jamaica, after Greg Leigh had put the ‘Reggae Boyz’ ahead in the first minute of the game. They held onto this lead until the sixth minute of injury time, when an own goal sent the game to extra time. The holders’ perseverance was rewarded as they then turned the game around with a brace from Haji Wright in the 96th and 109th minutes. The USA will now face Mexico in the final over the night of Sunday to Monday (2:15 CET).

Walde into next round of EURO qualifying with Germany youngsters

Simon Walde’s Germany U19 side are through to the second round of European Championship qualification. The Borussia defender played the full 90 minutes of the concluding 3-3 draw in Poland. Joe Scally (USA) and Ko Itakura (Japan) both celebrated friendly victories, while Grant-Leon Ranos’ Armenia suffered defeat to North Macedonia.
