Sustainability Report

In the sustainability report, Borussia provides extensive information on what it has done regarding sustainability in recent years, what steps it has taken recently and what goals it has set itself for the future. The report is divided into four categories: management, environment, economy and social issues.

Starting with management, the report explains what makes the club Borussia Mönchengladbach, what values it represents and how it communicates these outwards. This is followed by the area of environment: What challenges do climate change and the energy crisis pose for a football club? What is the Foals’ current carbon footprint? And what is the club doing to minimise water and energy consumption? For this purpose, Borussia has put the whole of BORUSSIA-PARK under a microscope and looked at the areas in which it is already doing well and where it can improve, because one thing is clear: protecting the environment is an ongoing process, and we too are continuing to learn all the time.

This is also the case in the economic and social areas, which are the subject of the third and fourth sections respectively of the sustainability report. Here, the Foals can already look proudly at what they have achieved. The Borussia foundation has been in existence since 2010, with which the club has supported numerous clubs and projects in Mönchengladbach and the surrounding area, however, it has also helped those affected by the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley, those suffering from the war in Ukraine and people in Turkey affected by earthquakes. Since the foundation was established, more than €1,500,000 in donations has gone into various projects.

The sustainability report also contains interesting information about Borussia’s child protection concept, the health-promoting measures it offers its employees and much more.
