Second round of World Cup qualifying for eight Foals

World Cup qualifying continues on Sunday evening as eight Foals are in action for their international teams.

Germany

With Matthias Ginter and Florian Neuhaus on the pitch, Germany closed out a comfortable 3-0 victory over Iceland in the first matchday. The second qualifier in Group J sees the German team travel to Bucharest to take on Romania on Sunday evening (20:45 CEST). Romania sit in second place in the group after their 3-2 win against North Macedonia last Thursday, behind Joachim Löw’s team who are in first. They are followed by Armenia, who narrowly beat Liechtenstein 1-0.

Switzerland

Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo and the Swiss national team face Lithuania in St. Gallen (20:45 CEST) in their second match on Sunday evening following their 3-1 win over Bulgaria in the week. This will be Lithuania’s first qualifier in Group C. Elsewhere in the group, Italy beat Northern Ireland 2-0, putting Switzerland top of their group just ahead of the Italians.

Austria

The second qualifier for the Austrian national team is also on Sunday evening at 20:45 CEST, as they face the Faroe Islands. With Stefan Lainer and Valentino Lazaro, Austria sit in second place behind Denmark following their 2-2 draw against Scotland. Denmark lead Group F after beating Israel 2-0 in the first match of qualifying.
