Foals begin the week’s training without international players

Borussia completed the first training session of the week without the squad’s international players on Tuesday. The Foals take on SC Freiburg on Saturday (20:30 CEST).

Eight league games remain until the end of the season. Head coach Marco Rose led the first session of the new week on Tuesday afternoon, focusing on passing and direct play at BORUSSIA-PARK. Bundesliga matchday 27 sees the Foals take on SC Freiburg on Saturday (20:30 CEST).

During Tuesday’s session, the Foals boss had to make do without internationals Matthias Ginter, Florian Neuhaus (both Germany), Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria), Nico Elvedi, Breel Embolo, Denis Zakaria (all Switzerland), Stefan Lainer and Valentino Lazaro (both Austria). Yann Sommer has already travelled back to Germany after beating Lithuania 1-0 with Swizerland, but the ‘keeper did not take part on Tuesday. Also missing was Jonas Hofmann, who remains in quarantine following his positive coronavirus test result. Youngster Rocco Reitz was involved with the squad, however.

Tony Jantschke to retire from professional football

Tony Jantschke will hang up his boots at the end of the current season. The 34-year-old, who first joined Gladbach in 2006, will remain at the club in a non-playing capacity.
