Tony Jantschke to retire from professional football
Tony Jantschke will hang up his boots at the end of the current season. The 34-year-old, who first joined Gladbach in 2006, will remain at the club in a non-playing capacity.
The Foals will be without Breel Embolo until further notice after the 24-year-old sustained a muscle injury during Switzerland’s EURO quarterfinal against Spain.
Borussia started pre-season training last Saturday, but new head coach Adi Hütter will have to wait for the Switzerland internationals to return after only recently ending their EURO 2020 campaign. One of those players is Breel Embolo, who injured his left hamstring in their quarterfinal defeat to Spain. How long the forward will be out for remains to be seen.
