DFL release schedule for first six matchdays

The German Football League (DFL) have released the exact dates and times for the first six matchdays of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season.

On Wednesday afternoon (7 July), the DFL released the timings for the first six matchdays of the new Bundesliga season. The Foals will play one of these games on a Friday night, one on a Saturday afternoon, two on Saturday evenings, one on a Sunday afternoon and one on a Sunday evening.

The season opener between Borussia and reigning champions FC Bayern München at BORUSSIA-PARK had already been scheduled for Friday, 13th August at 20:30 CEST. After this, the Foals face two away games in a row: On Saturday, 21st August at 18:30 CEST in Leverkusen and then on Sunday, 29th August at 15:30 CEST against 1. FC Union Berlin. On Sunday, 12th September, Borussia will be back on home turf to take on Arminia Bielefeld. Kick-off in this game will be at 19:30 CEST due to the preceding international break and the resulting omission of a Friday night game.

On Matchday 5, Adi Hütter’s men are on the road again to take on FC Augsburg at 15:30 CEST on Saturday, 18th September, before welcoming BVB to BORUSSIA-PARK for a Topspiel the following week (25th September, 18:30 CEST).

  • Matchday 1: Borussia – FC Bayern München (Friday, 13 August, 20:30 CEST)
  • Matchday 2: Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Borussia (Saturday, 21 August, 18:30 CEST)
  • Matchday 3: 1. FC Union Berlin - Borussia (Sunday, 29 August, 15:30 CEST)
  • Matchday 4: Borussia – Arminia Bielefeld (Sunday, 12 September, 19:30 CEST)
  • Matchday 5: FC Augsburg - Borussia (Saturday, 18 September, 15:30 CEST)
  • Matchday 6: Borussia – Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 25 September, 18:30 CEST)
