Training camp comes to an end

Borussia have left Harsewinkel-Marienfeld after their week-long training camp to return to Mönchengladbach ahead of their next friendly on Saturday.

The final training session in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld ended on Friday after a speech from Adi Hütter and applause from the team. “I thanked the team for their commitment, dedication and attitude,” revealed Hütter afterwards. “I was pleased with their efforts.”

Players to return from holiday

After lunch, the squad returned to BORUSSIA-PARK to prepare for tomorrow’s friendly against FC Metz, the third of pre-season (15:30 CEST). After an intensive week of training, Hütter is looking to manage his players’ workloads against the French side. “It wouldn’t make much sense to give the lads 60 minutes.”

Next week, which includes two more friendlies, will be less intense according to the boss. “We’ve worked really hard over the last three weeks. We’ll slightly reduce the workload now so that the lads can get some freshness back,” stated Hütter.

The remaining players who have been on holiday after international duty will also return to meet their new coach for the first time. “We’re aware the quality will improve then. These are key players, who will be important to the team,” commented Hütter, who also had praise for the youngsters who have trained with the first team recently. “They’ve all done really well. I’ll have to make a decision in the coming days on which ones will stay with us.”
