Kramer: “Too many mistakes in every area”

Christoph Kramer spoke to the media following the 6-0 defeat in Dortmund. The 31-year-old addressed the run of the game as well as the lacking consistency this season.

Christoph Kramer on...

… the run of the game: When you’re standing here after a 6-0 loss, you can’t find any positives. However, it wasn’t all terrible up until the third goal. We had a lot of chances and didn’t give up. When we hit the underside of the bar it came back out, when Dortmund hit it, it went in. Seeing that, you just get the feeling that everything’s against you.

… changes in the Dortmund team: It didn’t really surprise us that Dortmund played with a back three. That effectively made it a one-on-one across the whole pitch. We had some issues with setting that up to begin with, but then got it later on.

… the three goals conceded in the final quarter of an hour: Something like that shouldn’t happen to us. The pitch felt to have become really big for us because our playing style had taken a lot out of us. Then you start to struggle a little bit at the wrong moment and don’t track back. You can’t do that against a team like Dortmund. If you give them too much space, it can get nasty – and that’s what unfortunately happened to us.

… the lacking consistency: It’s been there all season. You prepare for the games and you have a plan that you have to carry out. We’re simply making too many mistakes in every area; that’s why we are where we are.

Christoph Kramer was brought on in the 77th minute against Dortmund.
