DFL announces schedule for the remaining Bundesliga matches

The DFL announced the schedule for matchdays 31 to 33 of the ongoing Bundesliga season on Thursday, with the kick-off time for matchday 34 naturally already organised. The Foals will play twice on a Saturday afternoon, once on a Monday evening and once on a Sunday afternoon in their final four league matches.

The exact dates and kick-off times for all of Borussia’s matches up to and including the derby against 1. FC Köln on Saturday, 16th April (18:30 CEST) had already been announced. Equally, matchday 34 had already been scheduled, with all nine Bundesliga matches on the final day of the season taking place at the same time. Gladbach will end the season at home to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Saturday, 14th May, 15:30 CEST). Today, the DFL announced the schedule for matchdays 31 to 33, during which Borussia will play on one occasion in the Saturday afternoon kick-off slot, once on a Monday evening as well as a further match on a Sunday afternoon.

On matchday 31, Adi Hütter’s side travel to SC Freiburg for a match which will kick off at 15:30 CEST on Saturday 23rd April. RB Leipzig are next up for the Foals on matchday 32, but there are conditions pertaining to when this match will be held. To the wish of Germany’s security services, no matches will take place on 1st May 2022, which falls on a Sunday this year. The two German clubs who are still active in this year’s UEFA Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig, are also to be given an appropriate amount of time to rest following their European fixtures.

Due to the fact that the first leg of the Europa League semi-final is scheduled for Thursday, 28th April, and that no matches will take place on Sunday, 1st May, both Frankfurt’s and Leipzig’s matchday 32 fixtures have been moved to Monday, 2nd May (20:30 CEST). However, should Leipzig not reach the Europa League semi-final, their league match against Borussia will be rearranged to Friday, 29th April (20:30 CEST).

The Foals’ penultimate match of the season is away to Eintracht Frankfurt one week later on Sunday, 8th May (15:30 CEST).
