Ginter back in team training ahead of Leipzig game

The Foals got their preparations for Monday’s clash with Leipzig (20:30 CEST) underway on Thursday morning.

Gladbach will play a league match on a Monday for the first time, when they host RB Leipzig on matchday 32 (20:30 CEST). Due to the unusual kick off time, the structure of The Foals’ training has been somewhat different this week. After two days off, the players undertook lactate tests on Wednesday before returning to the training ground on Thursday morning. “It’s a longer week for us this week. The players undertook lactate tests yesterday and today we began our preparations for the Leipzig game,” said Adi Hütter. He continued: “It’s certainly not an ideal kick off time for the fans. We would normally prefer to play at the weekend but we just have to get on with it.”

Plea and Bensebaini take part

László Bénes und Marcus Thuram (both muscle problems) continued to train individually. “We hope we can get Tikus back fit in time for the Hoffenheim game,” said Hütter. Matthias Ginter returned to team training today and Alassane Plea, who picked up a bad bruise in the 3-3 draw against Freiburg and Ramy Bensebaini, who suffered a sprained ankle in the same game, both participated fully in the session.

Improving the home form

The Foals are due to train again on Saturday at 10:30 CEST. The two sessions on Friday and the session on Sunday will take place behind closed doors. Hütter is aware of how tough the penultimate home game of the season against Leipzig will be on Monday evening: “We are up against one of the form teams in the league. Nevertheless, we will give our all in the game in order to try and improve our home form,” he said.
