"We were punished for every mistake" - #BMGSGE reaction

We gathered the thoughts of the players and the coaches after Borussia's 3-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday night.

Julian Weigl: It's been a rubbish week to be honest with the cup exit and now a home defeat today, especially as we have been so strong at home lately. Our passing was sloppy and led to too many mistakes, and we were punished clinically for all of them. We invited them to score. I don't think that the half-time scoreline was a reflection of the game. We had one or two dangerous moments in the first half, but we couldn't get the goal. Frankfurt are a top side and we saw that today. A lot went wrong from our perspective today, so the defeat is a fair enough result.

Christoph Kramer: When you're 3-0 down at half time, that obviously kills the atmosphere in the stadium somewhat. Nevertheless, I thought we put in a decent performance in the first half. I haven't seen the statistics yet, but I imagine it's fairly even in terms of shots and possession. One goal in football can change the course of a whole match, and Frankfurt were the ones who scored. We were too open at 1-0 down because we were determined to get the equaliser, and unfortunately you will get punished for that in the Bundesliga. It's all about using momentum, and that was with Frankfurt today.

Tobias Sippel: We wanted to start strongly and even had the first good chance, but we didn't take it. We made life far too easy for Frankfurt towards the end of the first half. Their third goal certainly shouldn't come about as easily as it did. We're actually a good side when it comes to build-up play and can work it around well, but we gave the ball away too many times today. Even if it's easier said than done, we need to dust ourselves off and go again. It's always special playing here in front of your own fans - you get goosebumps of a different kind. I don't get the chance to play here very often, so it's all the more frustrating to have lost. Credit to the fans for the support they showed us. We wanted to deliver as a team today. There are setbacks now and again, but it's about time that we started handing them out again. We owe our fans a result.

Daniel Farke: Frankfurt were clinical in the final third today and deserved to get the win. It felt a little surreal to find ourselves 3-0 down at half time because I didn't think there was much between the teams. The only difference was their clinical edge. Frankfurt were able to make the most of their opportunities and we weren't. We were too eager and were too optimistic with some of our passes. Frankfurt were particularly strong on the counter.

Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner: I think that we deserved the win. We implemented our match plan in the first half perfectly; we were switched on when we won the ball and used our pace in attack to good effect with real efficiency. I feel we actually controlled the game in the second half, but we let Gladbach back into it with an unnecessary mistake. We're very happy overall though.
