New Bundesliga season to start on 18th August

While the Foals get ready for the second half of the current season from Monday, the German Football League (DFL) has now announced the schedule for the coming season.

The 2023/24 Bundesliga season will kick off with the opening match on Friday, 18th August. The remaining games of the first matchday are to be played on Saturday, 19th and Sunday, 20th August. One weekend earlier, between August 11th and 14th, the first round proper of the DFB-Pokal will take place.

After matchday 16 on 19th/20th December 2023, which is the only midweek round during the first half of the season, the Bundesliga will take a break for around three-and-a-half weeks.

The season will restart after the winter break on 12th January 2024. The 34th and final matchday will be contested on Saturday, 18th May 2024. The DFB-Pokal final will be played one week later, on Saturday, 25th May 2024, in Berlin. Sandwiching that are the relegation play-off matches on 23rd and 27th May.
