“Produce this kind of performance every week” - #BMGFCB reaction

We gathered the thoughts from the players and coaches after Borussia’s 3-2 win over FC Bayern on Saturday afternoon.

Jonas Hofmann: What we produced today against Bayern was outstanding. We have to use this game as a chance to see the kind of performance we’re capable of delivering. Of course, we had a man advantage, but Bayern still had a lot of possession, and you can never discount their individual quality. However, we were able to get the win, which is phenomenal. We have to want to produce this kind of performance every week.

Lars Stindl: We went into the game with the goalof winning, and obviously the red card played into our hands. We were able to use the man advantage to play courageous football. We struggled a little at the start, because Bayern reacted to the sending-off well, but we changed things up at half time and then we were able to bring home the three points. We’ve been very critical of ourselves in recent days. We can play at a very high level, but we haven’t always been able to produce that on the pitch. That is a problem and it's one we know needs addressing – it’s a question of how. It’s a little banal, but in football, you just have to keep pushing. Our overall approach today was very important, particularly at home. If we want to be successful, we have to deliver that in every game.

Jonas Omlin: It’s an incredible feeling. A lot needs to go your way if you’re going to beat Bayern, and that was the case for us today. We took our chances and of course the red card helped us. It’s still not a walk in the park with a man advantage against Bayern. However, we didn’t give them many openings. I don’t think there’s much we can complain about today. We’re delighted with the three points. Now we want to continue to play with that same energy.

Daniel Farke: It’s obviously a great day for us; we’ve picked up three important points after only getting one from our last two games. The win helps us in the table and in terms of the atmosphere within the team. Huge credit to the lads. You need a top performance in every department to get a result against Bayern, and I feel we did that today. They started on the front foot and we show resilience and courage, particularly in possession. I was a little worried as the game went on, as we missed a number of chances – we rushed things occasionally. A side like Bayern are always capable of coming back with the quality and the mentality they have. We had to be alert at the back right until the end. It was an extraordinary performance from the boys today, and so I believe that we ultimately deserved the win.

FC Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann: We missed some big opportunities before the red card. If we had been a bit more clinical and made better decisions, we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up. Then I think the game is done and dusted after seven minutes. The red card made it difficult for us, but I think we fought back well. Their second goal came during a phase where we actually had control of the game. With the Champions League trip to Paris in the legs, it got tougher for us at the match wore on, and so we ended up on the losing side.

Lars Stindl: "If we want to be successful, we have to deliver that in every game."
