Stindl: “It was a really special day”

Lars Stindl gave one final post-match interview after his emotional final Gladbach appearance at BORUSSIA-PARK.

Lars Stindl on...

...his final Bundesliga game for Borussia: I’m glad to have had one final Bundesliga game with these boys and to have won. It really was a beautiful farewell, and it was almost perfect. Of course, I’d love to have scored, but that really doesn’t matter. I’m just pleased it was such a good day. We won, the stands were full, and I received a lovely goodbye. It was very emotional and was one of the best days of my life. It was a really special day; I’ll never forget it.

...how it felt when he was subbed off in the 85th minute: It’s really difficult to put these emotions and feelings into words. I certainly had to pull myself together a bit, as it was a really emotionally charged moment. I saw how they rose to their feet to bid me farewell, how the lads, the coaches, and the staff came up to me and hugged me. It was special to have everyone stand up to applaud you and say goodbye to you. I really enjoyed the moment.

...his eight years at Borussia: It’s simply my nature to always give everything for the club. I think I’ve done that over the last eight years. I’d like to thank every single person who has helped me have eight great years at the club. I’ve genuinely loved playing for Borussia. These years I’ve spent in Gladbach have been the best of my life. There have been so many highlights, and also some difficult moments, which is part and parcel of the game, but on the whole, there’ve been more highs than lows. As of now, I am no longer a Borussia Mönchengladbach player, and instead just a huge Borussia Mönchengladbach fan.

Lars Stindl says goodbye to the Borussia fans.
