Thanks and all the best, Ramy!

Borussia are saying goodbye to left-back Ramy Bensebaini after four years at the club. The Algerian scored 25 goals in 113 games for the Foals.

Bensebaini moved to Borussia in summer 2019 from Stade Rennais. The defender quickly became known as a fantastic penalty taker for the club. “I never missed one,” he recalled proudly. The 28-year-old scored all nine spot-kicks for the Foals, including in the DFB-Pokal, the Bundesliga and in the UEFA Champions League away to Inter Milan. “The games in the Champions League were fantastic, although it was sad that not many fans were allowed to attend,” reflected Bensebaini. “This club really helped me to develop as a player. I played in the Europa League and the Champions League for the first time here. I’ve never scored as many goals in a season as I did here for Borussia.”

Bensebaini was a regular on the team sheet over the last four years and had an impact both in defence and attack. “I hope people remember my desire to win. I was known for my fiery personality on the pitch and always looked like picking up a yellow card – that’s just my way of playing,” admitted the defender, who is much more calm and gentle off the pitch. He finished by addressing the criticism of his recent form by some: “Sometimes things go well, sometimes they don’t. I always gave my best for Borussia!”

Borussia would like to thank Ramy Bensebaini for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.

Ramy Bensebaini never missed a penalty for the club.
