• There have been eight Bundesliga meetings between the sides up until this point, of which Borussia have won half, with three games ending in a draw. Darmstadt’s only victory came in the first ever clash between the sides in the 1978/79 season (2-0).
• Darmstadt have been more successful against Borussia in the DFB-Pokal, having knocked the Foals out on both occasions the two sides have met. They advanced in the first round in 2013/14 as a third-division side, winning on penalties (0-0 a.e.t.), whilst they also came out winners in the second round last season as a second-division side (2-1).

He has already led by example so far this season, having had the most touches amongst the Foals, the third-most distance covered in the league and a 68% challenge-success rate, putting him second in the midfielders’ rankings in this category.
• Ko Itakura played 24 Bundesliga games without scoring a goal last season. This time around, he has already bagged two, netting with a header from a corner in Augsburg, as well as against Bayern.
