Match facts ahead of #FCBBMG

Everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s visit to Bayern (15:30 CET).

SPECTATORS:

  • Munich’s Allianz Arena is sold out for this weekend’s game, with around 6,000 Foals fans at the 75,024-capacity stadium.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

  • Borussia and Bayern are set to meet for the 112th time in the Bundesliga. Bayern have historically had the better record, with 52 victories, while Borussia have won 28 times and drawn on 31 occasions.
  • The Foals have had a more even record against the league champions of late: since the 2011/12 season they have won ten games, drawn five and lost ten, with no other Bundesliga side claiming more than six wins against Bayern in that time.
  • This season’s reverse fixture at BORUSSIA-PARK was Gladbach’s only defeat in their last six competitive matches against Bayern. In the previous five fixtures, they had won three and drawn two.
  • Bayern last did the double over Mönchengladbach in the 2016/17 season under head coach Carlo Ancelotti – Borussia have gained three or four points in every season since, and won at least one game every season.

STATISTICS:

  • Borussia’s four points since the winter break have come against the league’s third- and first-placed teams in Stuttgart and Leverkusen, either side of a 2-1 home defeat against Augsburg.
  • The Foals have not won or drawn two games in a row this season, and only lost consecutive games on one occasion (on the 2nd and 3rd matchdays against Leverkusen and Bayern).
  • Both teams have scored a joint league-best 12 goals from set pieces this season – Mönchengladbach have the most from corners with nine, while Bayern are second with seven.
  • The two sides have been involved in high-scoring games throughout this season, with 74 goals scored in Bayern’s games this season (56 scored, 18 conceded), the most in the league, and 73 in Borussia’s (35/38).
  • Bayern have scored and conceded exactly the number of goals as at this stage last season – last year the Bavarians had 40 points at this stage and were top of the table, while this season’s 47 points have them in second place.

OFFICIALS:

  • Tobias Stieler will referee Saturday’s match. The 42-year-old has taken charge of 173 Bundesliga games, including 24 Foals fixtures. He last refereed a Borussia game in last season’s goalless draw at Freiburg.
  • Stieler will be assisted by linesmen Christian Gittelmann and Robert Kempter, with Martin Petersen as fourth official. Robert Hartmann and Stefan Lupp will be in the VAR room.
