Borussia loan László Bénes to FC Augsburg

Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder László Bénes has joined FC Augsburg on loan until the end of the season.

László Bénes has completed a deadline-day loan move to FC Augsburg. “Laci came to us with the request to make this loan move happen in order to get more game time in the Bundesliga. As we believe it is important for his development, we agreed to grant his request,” said Borussia sporting director Max Eberl. The 23-year-old Slovakian midfielder’s contract with the Foals runs until June 2024.

Bénes joined Gladbach from MSK Zilina in summer 2016. His first ever start on 5th April 2017 also saw him score his first goal, the winner in a 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin. He has made a total of 51 competitive appearances for Borussia, scoring twice, with the second goal coming in the 5-0 DFB-Pokal second-round win over SV Elversberg in December. It was the only time he has played the full 90 minutes this season, having been subbed on in eight of his other nine competitive appearances in the 2020/21 campaign.
