Vote for your player of the month for March

Ramy Bensebaini, Yann Sommer, Florian Neuhaus and Marcus Thuram are up for the Player of the Month award for March, presented by Borussia and Cichon Personalmanagement. You can vote for your winner on the FohlenApp.

The Foals played a total of five competitive matches in the month of March as we head into the international break. The first of these was the 1-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal, in which Ramy Bensebaini took the most votes for Man of the Match. Following this was the loss to Bayer 04 Leverkusen by the same scoreline, where Yann Sommer narrowly beat the Algerian to secure the most votes. Florian Neuhaus picked up the award after scoring in the 3-1 defeat in Augsburg, while Sommer was again voted Man of the Match in the UEFA Champions League exit against Manchester City. The Foals most recent game saw Marcus Thuram rewarded by fans for his performance against FC Schalke 04 as Borussia ended the losing streak with an important 3-0 victory.

You can vote for your choice for Player of the Month on the FohlenApp. Voting closes at midnight this Thursday.

Ramy Bensebaini: Around 45% of fans voted for the full-back in the unfortunate 1-0 defeat to BVB in the DFB-Pokal, handing him the Man of the Match award. The Algerian was a constant thorn in the side of Dortmund, covering every inch of the left-hand side of the pitch and giving his all in every duel. His effort shortly after half time almost put the Foals in the lead, but he was denied by a great save from BVB keeper Marvin Hitz.

Yann Sommer: Borussia’s keeper was voted Man of the Match twice in the month of March. Only one vote separated the Swiss from Ramy Bensebaini in the 1-0 defeat to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, when Sommer made a brilliant stop to deny Diaby’s shot but was powerless to prevent Patrick Schick's follow-up. The 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League also found the goalkeeper in fine form as he prevented what could have been an even greater loss. He picked up 45% of the vote as the Foals exited the competition.

Florian Neuhaus: The midfielder struck the equaliser in the frustrating 3-1 loss at FC Augsburg with a beautiful flick into the far corner after going close early on. The Germany international was voted Man of the Match with a total of 26% of fans’ votes.

Marcus Thuram: The vote for Man of the Match in the 3-0 win over Schalke was neck-and-neck, with the Frenchman pipping scorers Stefan Lainer and Lars Stindl to the award with 25% of the vote compared to their 23% each. Thuram was electric as he attacked down the left flank, initiating several moves including the one ending in Lars Stindl giving the Foals a deserved 1-0 lead.
