Lainer and Lazaro named in Austria squad for EUROs

Stefan Lainer and Valentino Lazaro have been selected in the preliminary 30-man squad for Austria for the upcoming European Championship this summer which will run from 11th June to 11th July 2021.

Right-back Stefan Lainer (photo: imago images/GEPA pictures) and midfielder Valentino Lazaro have been named in the preliminary Austria squad for UEFA EURO 2020. Austria national team coach Franco Foda has until 1st June to select his final 26-man squad that will compete in the European Championship.

Austria will face the Netherlands, North Macedonia and Ukraine in Group C. Both Foals could make their first appearances at a European Championship this summer. Lazaro was not included in the Austria squad for the 2016 EUROs in France, while Lainer celebrated his debut for the national team in March 2017.

Head coach Franco Foda’s team kick off the group stages against North Macedonia in Bucharest on 13th June at 18:00 CEST. The second group match follows three days later in Amsterdam against the Netherlands on 17th June at 21:00 CEST, before Austria conclude the group stage against Ukraine in Bucharest on 21st June at 18:00 CEST.
