Foals begin national team training camps

The eight Borussia players who will represent their countries at EURO 2020 will be joining up with their respective teams in the coming days in order to prepare for this summer's tournament.

Germany

Things get going on Friday for Matthias Ginter, Florian Neuhaus and Jonas Hofmann, when the Germany squad head to Seefeld, Austria to kick off their preparations for the EUROs. The squad will stay at Hotel Nodum and train just three kilometres away. For national coach Jogi Löw, the training camp is a key building block for a successful tournament: "We are together again for a longer period of time. One point during this preparation is to find ourselves as a team." Germany will play two friendlies ahead of the European Championship: against Denmark on Wednesday 2nd June (21:00 CEST) and Latvia on Monday 7th June (20:45 CEST).

Switzerland

Borussia quartet Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo and the Switzerland national team began their EURO preparations on Wednesday in Bad Ragaz. Head coach Vladimir Petkovic has a squad of 29 players, which he must cut by three before next Tuesday. The Swiss team will complete ten training sessions in Bad Ragaz during the upcoming days, and will also have friendlies against the USA (Sunday 30th May 20:15 CEST) and Liechtenstein (Thursday 3rd June 20:45 CEST) in St. Gallen.

Austria

Austria's head coach Franco Foda named his 26-man squad for EURO 2020 on Monday, with Stefan Lainer (photo: imago/gepa pictures) and Valentino Lazaro are among them, as expected. The two Foals will arrive in Bad Tatzmannsdorf on Thursday afternoon along with their national teammates, before training begins on Friday. On Tuesday, the ÖFB squad will head to Middlesbrough, where they will face England in a friendly on Wednesday 2nd June (21:00 CEST). The team will then travel to Vienna, where they will take on Slovakia (Sunday 6th June, 17:30 CEST). Two days later, Lainer, Lazaro and the rest of the squad will head to their home for the tournament in Seefeld.

France

Marcus Thuram and the rest of the French national team joined up in Clairefontaine on Wednesday. Before kicking off their EURO campaign against Germany on 15th June, the Equipe Tricolore will play two friendlies: against Wales on Wednesday 2nd June (20:00 CEST) in Nice, and Bugaria on Tuesday 8th June 8 (20:00 CEST) at the Stade de France in Paris.

Slovakia

László Bénes, who spent the second half of the season on loan at FC Augsburg, has also begun preparations for the European Championship with Slovakia. Head coach Stefan Tarkovic's squad joined up on Wednesday in Windischgarsten, Austria, where they will spend ten days preparing for the tournament. Ahead of their EURO campaign, Tarkovic's side will face Bulgaria on Tuesday 1st June (18:00 CEST) in Ried, and Austria on Sunday 6th June (17:30 CEST) in Vienna.
