Foals looking to build on recent momentum

The Foals resumed training on Tuesday, with four players absent. Denis Zakaria, Manu Koné, Jonas Hofmann and Lars Stindl will, however, all return to training tomorrow.

“The win felt good and was important for us, given our recent form. In particular, I was very pleased with the spirit the lads showed,” said head coach Adi Hütter. Now, the focus has fully shifted to Saturday’s match at VfL Wolfsburg (15:30 CEST). “They are a very physical, strong team. Even if they have just suffered their first defeat this season in Hoffenheim, they are still near the top of the table for a reason. We want to build on our momentum and build on our performance against Dortmund,” Hütter said.

Stefan Lainer (rehabilitiation following a broken ankle), Mamadou Doucouré (rehabilitation following an Achilles tendon tear) and Ramy Bensebaini (foot injury) were all absent from training today. Marcus Thuram (rehabilitation following an MCL tear) took part in an individual session with fitness coach Alexander Mouhcine. “Tikus is working hard on his comeback and is aiming to return as quickly as possible. It will still be a while until he is ready to play again, however. Ramy is on his way backc. But, I can’t say yet if it will be in time for this weekend,” said Hütter. Denis Zakaria, Manu Koné, Jonas Hofmann and Lars Stindl were also all absent from today’s session, and instead completed a weightlifting workout in the gym. “There are no injuries to report for any of those four. But, we also didn’t want to take any risks. They will return to training tomorrow,” said Hütter.
