Voting open for Borussia’s Player of the Season for 2021/22

Fans can now vote for their 2021/22 Player of the Season, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement, on the FohlenApp. Yann Sommer, Jonas Hofmann, Alassane Plea, Breel Embolo and Manu Koné are the nominees.

Yann Sommer, Jonas Hofmann, Alassane Plea, Breel Embolo or Manu Koné – which of these five players will become Borussia’s Player of the Season to follow in captain Lars Stindl’s footsteps from last year. Fans can select their winner on the FohlenApp right now.

Four of those five were named as Player of the Month on at least one occasion by the fans. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer even won the award three times across 2021/22 (December, January and April). Jonas Hofmann was a two-time winner (November and May), whilst Breel Embolo was voted as POTM in October. The other candidate is Manu Koné, who impressed during his debut campaign in Mönchengladbach, featuring in 27 league games (2 goals) and two DFB-Pokal matches (1 goal).

Fans can vote for their favourite up until Saturday, 28th June on the FohlenApp. We will take a closer look at each of the five players from tomorrow and reflect on their individual campaigns.

Lainer and Elvedi back on the training pitch

On Tuesday morning, Borussia kicked off their preparations for their Bundesliga game at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday (15:30 CEST). Although Stefan Lainer and Nico Elvedi were able to train with the team, eight other players were missing with illness or injury.
