Four new faces on the coaching staff

There have been four new people added to the Foals’ coaching staff for this season: assistant coaches Christopher John and Edmund Riemer as well as fitness coaches Chris Domogalla and Roman Steinweg.

There have been a few changes to the Borussia coaching team this summer. Daniel Farke’s long-serving assistant coaches Christopher John and Edmund Riemer and fitness coach Chris Domogalla have accompanied Borussia’s new head coach to Mönchengladbach. Furthermore, fitness coach Roman Steinweg has been added to the coaching staff, joining from Viktoria Berlin and replacing Markus Müller, who has moved to work at Bayer Leverkusen.

Martin Meichelbeck, who held the post of head of medicine for two years, during which time he was responsible for the medical, sport science and sports psychology sectors of the club, has also recently left. In light of the restructuring measures that have occurred in the medical department and the resulting different opinions on how the department should proceed, both parties have agreed to terminate their co-operation together.

“Martin has done an amazing job for us over the last two years, even in Corona times. However, we had differing views regarding the department and the staffing issue, so we agreed to terminate our collaboration,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. The position of head of medicine and prevention no longer exists at Borussia, and Alexander Moucine has taken over as head of fitness and prevention, with Dr. Ralf Doyscher being appointed as head of medicine.
