Preparation begins for top of the table clash, Lainer the only absentee

In four days, the Foals travel to face Bayern Munich. At the start of training for the top of the table clash, head coach Daniel Farke was able to welcome the full squad to training, with the exception of Stefan Lainer.

On Sunday evening, in the fourth round of Bundesliga matches, the Foals play away in Munich against the team with the most Bundesliga titles, Bayern Munich. The league leaders play host to the team directly below them. A top of the table clash between Borussia and Bayern has only happened once in the past 48 years, in October 2014 (a 0-0 draw in Mönchengladbach).

"We are aware of what kind of task to expect on Saturday. Bayern are currently probably the most in-form and red-hot team in Europe. Their start has been very impressive,” said head coach Daniel Farke. “However,” continued the 45-year-old, “We will not be waving the white flag before the game has even started. In every Bundesliga game there are three points up for grabs, so we also want to be competitive in Munich and come away with three points. First of all though, we are just focussed on having a good week of training. The mood is obviously good.”

The Foals started the week of training this Tuesday with a session of around two hours at the BORUSSIA-PARK. The whole squad was present with the exception of Stefan Lainer. The right-back was absent because of a slight inflammation of the thigh. “It is something Stevie has had in the past. It is not serious. We hope that it only lasts a couple of days and then he can rejoin training again,” said Farke, who has scheduled two further open training sessions before the game in Munich – tomorrow (Wednesday) as well as Thursday at 10:45 CEST. The gym session on Wednesday morning and final training session on Friday will both take place behind closed doors.

The Foals completed a near two hour session at BORUSSIA-PARK.
The mood in training was visible positive.
