Head-to-head record:

  • SC Freiburg and Borussia are meeting for the 41st time in the Bundesliga. The Foals have won 12 of these meetings, with SC winning on 14 occasions (D14).
  • SC are unbeaten in their last 14 Bundesliga home games against Borussia (W10, D4). Freiburg have never had a similar run against any other team in their top-flight history.
  • Borussia have won on just one of their 20 trips to Freiburg in the Bundesliga. Arie van Lent scored the winner in a 1-0 triumph on 23rd March 2002.

The number of the gam: 6 – presented by Interwetten:

  • The Foals are unbeaten in their last six Bundesliga away games, spanning multiple seasons (W2, D4 most recently).

Statistics:

  • The Foals went unbeaten in their first four Bundesliga games this season (W2, D2), before suffering their first defeat in 2022/23 against Mainz last time out (1-0).
  • Nathan Ngoumou and Julian Weigl made their Borussia debuts against Mainz last weekend. Due to Ko Itakura’s red-card suspension and injuries to Nico Elvedi and Alassane Plea, the duo could likely start Sunday’s match.
  • Only Bayern (16) have created more clear-cut chances this term than SC (14) and Borussia (12).
  • SC have recorded their best ever start to a Bundesliga campaign, picking up 12 points from five games. They are top of the table for just the second time in the top flight (previously on matchday 1 of 2000/01).
  • Like last season, Freiburg have already scored the most set-piece goals of any side in the league (5).

Officials:

  • The DFB will confirm the officials in the lead-up to the game.
