Match facts ahead of RB Leipzig

Everything you need to know before the Foals take on RB Leipzig on Saturday evening (18:30 CEST).

Spectators

  • Borussia has sold 50,800 tickets for the match, and the home allocation is now sold out. Any remaining tickets will be in the away end.

Head-to-head record:

  • Borussia and RBL made met 13 times in the Bundesliga. This weekend’s visitors have won seven of these games, with the Foals taking two wins – the other three have been drawn.

  • In the last two seasons, all four meetings have been in the home side’s favour – with Gladbach winning 1-0 and 3-1, and Leipzig coming out 3-2 and 4-1 victors on their turf respectively.
  • The above-mentioned 3-1 victory, on matchday 32 of last season, came courtesy of goals from Breel Embolo (17’) and Jonas Hofmann (45’, 77’).

The number of the match – 3 - presented by Interwetten

  • This matchday 7 clash will be the third time this season both clubs are playing in the Saturday evening slot, which is more than any other side in the Bundesliga. For Gladbach, the two previous Saturday 18:30 games have both been away draws (2-2 at Schalke and 1-1 at Bayern), while for RB both matches were losses on the road (2-1 at Union and 4-0 in Frankfurt).

Stat attack

  • After Gladbach conceded 56 and 61 goals in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons respectively, the defensive record has clearly improved under Daniel Farke. During his spell as coach, Borussia have only let in five goals, the second least in the Bundesliga, only behind Union Berlin’s four.
  • The Foals won their first two league games this season at the BORUSSIA-PARK (3-1 vs. Hoffenheim, and 1-0 vs. Hertha Berlin), but were defeated 1-0 last time at home by Mainz, having been down to ten players.
  • RB Leipzig enjoyed a 3-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund as Marco Rose made his debut as head coach in Saxony. It was RB’s second win of the season, and their first league game in which they scored more than twice.
  • Rose’s second Bundesliga game with Leipzig will see him meet one of his former clubs. Last season, Rose’s Dortmund side were defeated 1-0 at the BORUSSIA-PARK, but won 6-0 in the return fixture – his biggest Bundesliga win.
  • The Roten Bullen are still without an away Bundesliga victory this season. Following a 1-1 draw in Stuttgart, Leipzig lost at Union Berlin (2-1) and at Eintracht Frankfurt (0-4).

Referees

  • The DFB will appoint the match officials shortly before the match.

Weather

  • A cool autumn evening is expected on Saturday in Mönchengladbach, with temperatures at around 13 degrees celcius. There could be some light showers, as well as moderate wind from the north-west.
