Foals start the new year with Tuesday session

The Foals kicked off the new year on Tuesday afternoon with a 90-minute training session

21 Borussia players were present for the first raining session of the new year, which included intensive running and some positional drills. “I am really satisfied with the boys. The quality of the training sessions is really good,” said head coach Daniel Farke afterwards.

Jonas Hofmann worked individually due to back problems, while Nathan Ngoumou, who is suffering from eye injury, was also on an individual programme. “It’s nothing serious. He’ll be treated tomorrow and will be able to train with the team again on Thursday,” said Farke. Captain Lars Stindl worked with athletics coach Jonas Rath after being out with illness. “Lars has been out for about two and a half weeks now due to two different infections and it will be a little while before he is fully integrated again. He still has some progress to make, but he's doing much better,” said the head coach.

Christoph Kramer, who signed a two-year contract extension until June 2025 today, had to end team training a little earlier in order to complete a running session. Speaking to the media later, the 31-year-old explained: “Unfortunately it wasn’t a lap of honour for my contract extension or anything like that. I have had a cough recently and it’s still there a little bit, but I’m getting better by the day.”

The Foals will have a double session on Wednesday, followed by one session on Thursday. The first friendly of the year will take place on Saturday (14:00 CEST) against VfB Oldenburg, after a double session on Friday.

Lars Stindl trained individually.
