Rocco Reitz rejoins Sint-Truiden on loan

Midfielder Rocco Reitz will rejoin Sint-Truiden on loan for the remainder of the season. The 20-year-old previously spent 2021/22 on loan at the Belgian first-tier side in order to see more playing time.

Borussia have loaned midfielder Rocco Reitz to Sint-Truiden for the remainder of the 2022/23 season in order to allow him to pick up more match practice. “Rocco came to us and expressed his wish to rejoin Sint-Truiden on loan. It’s important that he plays regularly. Due to the high level of competition within our squad in defensive midfield, he wouldn’t have played much for us this season. That’s why we granted his wish and decided he would return to Belgium, where he had previously been able to prove himself in a strong league last season,” said sporting director Roland Virkus.

24 appearances across all competitions for Sint-Truiden in 2021/22

Reitz featured in 24 competitive games for the Belgian side in 2021/22. He started five matches in the Jupiler Pro League and was subbed on in a further 18 (2 goals, 1 assist). Reitz also featured for 60 minutes in the Belgian Cup in October 2021, as STVV were knocked out after a 3-2 defeat (a.e.t.).

The midfielder joined Borussia as a seven-year-old and made his way through the ranks of the club’s academy sides. He made his Bundesliga debut for the Foals away against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on 24th October 2020. A nagging pubic bone injury kept him sidelined for several weeks in the latter half of the 2020/21 season, as he only made one more cameo for the first team. This season, Reitz has appeared once in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal for the Foals.
