Foals spread joy at fan event in Aken

As part of their end-of-season tour, the Foals visited a fan fest at FC Stahl Aken’s ground in Saxony-Anhalt on Tuesday evening. Around 230 Borussia fans from the region took the chance to chat to players, take plenty of photos and get autographs from their heroes.

The fan event was organised by Heiko Kuntz, FPMG’s eastern regional leader, with members of the fan club and supporters from the region invited to the meet-up. Around 230 Gladbach fans and many of FC Stahl Aken’s youth players gave the Foals a warm welcome with a raucous applause and by signing some Borussia songs.

They then all came together to form a giant diamond for a photo, with the players clearly having fun mingling among the crowd. The barbeque was soon fired up, while some Foals also took on fans at table tennis and darts. There was of course plenty of time for the players, coaches and backroom staff to pose for selfies, sign autographs and chit-chat with the excited supporters.

“Jonas Hofmann, Lars Stindl and Tony Jantschke also signed the town’s visitors’ book. Having Borussia come here is huge for the town. I think that the evening has gone down really well. Everyone is over the moon,” said Heiko Kuntz. “Fans from the area often travel long distances to watch home games at BORUSSIA-PARK, so it’s such a nice thing for them to come and visit the region.”

Borussia head coach Daniel Farke said: “The atmosphere is extraordinary, and the people here are wonderful. It’s great to see how excited and grateful they are. I think it’s important that we take time for things like this.” After around an hour and a half, the Foals bid farewell to Aken, leaving behind plenty of special memories and smiling faces.
