Borussia set new attendance record

Borussia Mönchengladbach ended the 2022/23 season with a new attendance record. Our Bundesliga home fixtures this season saw us welcome an average of 52,438 spectators to BORUSSIA-PARK.

The Foals have therefore set a new club record, surpassing the previous best of 52,334 from the 2013/14 season. The club welcomed the third-most visitors during the 2011/12 season (average of 51,882 per game). “To see such a show of support from our fans, especially during what was a tough season for us, and during a time in which people are affected by inflation, the energy crisis and the aftereffects of the Covid-19 pandemic, makes us very proud,” said Borussia CEO Stephan Schippers. “At the same time, this record serves as further motivation and underlines the responsibility we have to continue to improve in all areas and ensure that visiting our stadium remains a highlight for all fans.”

A look at this season’s statistics proves that Borussia are a popular club both within and outside of North-Rhine Westphalia. Tickets to all of the club’s 17 home games in 2022/23 were bought by spectators living in each of Germany’s 16 states. Fans from 58 different countries visited BORUSSIA-PARK this term, including 38 European countries and 19 non-European nations - from Canada and Mexico, Namibia and South Africa, to New Zealand and Australia. “We know that having such a loyal and passionate following cannot be taken for granted and that this is one of Borussia’s defining strengths. On behalf of the entire club, I would like to say 'thank you,' ” said Schippers.

Borussia’s new pricing structure, which was introduced ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season, and which will remain in place, also played a role in helping achieve this new record. The new system offers more flexibility, ensuring that matches which previously drew lower attendance figures were able to welcome more spectators. Additionally, Borussia fans had the option to secure tickets for all 17 home games from the start of the season, allowing for more planning security.

The club has already announced plans to offer fans the additional option of a mobile season ticket. Additionally, ticket prices will remain unchanged for the 2023/24 season.
