Tomáš Čvančara: “I want to pay back the trust”

Tomáš Čvančara is a Foal! The Czech forward signed a contract until 2028 on Friday with Borussia and then took time to speak to the club about his first impressions and his expectations.

Welcome to Mönchengladbach, Tomáš. What are your first impressions of BORUSSIA-PARK?

Tomáš Čvančara: It’s an amazing stadium. I have already watched a few videos on YouTube to see the fans cheer on the team and celebrate goals. I’m looking forward to experiencing this atmosphere. My first day here was very tiring with all the medical examinations, discussions with the doctors and the MRI scan, but I’m finally here and I can’t wait to get going.

You have so far played for clubs in Czech Republic and also briefly in Italy. Why did you decide to join Borussia?

Čvančara: Anybody that plays football wants to play in one of the biggest three leagues in the world at some point and I’m no different. I chose to come to Borussia because I could sense how much they wanted me during our conversations. I have seen a few videos and pictures that depict the club and its style, and I think I can help Borussia by hopefully scoring a few goals.

How would you describe your style of play?

Čvančara: I’m 1.90m tall, quite quick and I’ve scored a few goals in Czech Republic and in the Conference League, as well as on my debut for the national team. There’s not a lot more to say! I don’t do an awful lot outside of football. I try to focus totally on football.

What are your expectations and goals for your time at Borussia?

Čvančara: My aim is to help the team. I want to pay back the trust placed in me. The stadium can hold more than 54,000 fans. Scoring goals and celebrating them with the fans will be fantastic.
