Reaction from yesterday's mini-tournament in Heimstetten

Reitz, Weigl and Seoane give their thoughts after yesterday's friendlies against 1860 Munich (2-1) and VfB Stuttgart (5-1)

Rocco Reitz: We had quite the mix of players on the pitch against 1860 and we came together really well as a team. You could tell that the playing conditions weren’t easy with the heavy rain. The ball bounced a little more and we were a bit more untidy technically. In the end we came away with a 2-1 win which is a decent result. In the final stages we had to block a few shots and defend our goal together as a team.

Julian Weigl: We played really well against Stuttgart. They had much more possession in the first half an hour but we countered well and posed a threat with our pace up front. We defended as a tight unit and hardy allowed our opponents any opportunities. We unfortunately conceded a goal in the second half but we scored some well-crafted goals ourselves. We were decisive in the way we played and we can be happy with that.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane: It was a big scoreline against VfB Stuttgart but in terms of the performance, there were quite a few things I didn’t like. For example, I don’t think we implemented what we wanted in the first half. We were extremely passive and we were forced to sit deep, which we didn’t want to happen. We did, however, manage the situation well with our solidity, we made the spaces tight and we were able to profit when our opponents lost the ball with our good counter-attacks and the individual quality of our forwards. We made changes for the second half and we were better after that. I’d of course rather see us win in a friendly than lose. We’re happy with every goal and every win, but it’s only pre-season so we won’t overstate it. I think the performance was decent, but we also have more potential and room for improvement.
