Foals place focus on home game against Bochum

The Foals began their preparations for the home game against VfL Bochum (Saturday, 15:30 CET) on Tuesday morning.

Borussia are set to take on VfL Bochum at BORUSSIA-PARK on Saturday (15:30 CET) on Matchday 23 in the Bundesliga. Head coach Gerardo Seoane once again had to do without Alassane Plea (bruised foot), Tomáš Čvančara (ruptured ankle ligament) und Florian Neuhaus (muscle problems) on Tuesday morning as preparations got underway for the upcoming clash with 11th-placed side VfL Bochum. Ko Itakura, who is suspended for the home game against Bochum alongside Nico Elvedi, was absent due to muscle problems. Simon Walde has picked up a hamstring injury, whilst Franck Honorat completed a shorter session due to his load being managed. Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin is still doing rehabilitative work.  Chrsitoph Kramer and Tony Jantschke, who were both missing from the squad in Leipzig due to illness, were once again fully involved at the start of the training week.

“Of course we’re facing the facts and know that we need to pick up points,” Seoane said. “Everyone is aware of that. Therefore, we’re trying to train as well as possible every week and make the right decisions. Nevertheless, it’s also important to keep calm, get a little bit closer and have a healthy level of tension.”

The Foals also completed a strength session at the Performance Center (not open to the public) in the afternoon. The Foals will be training at 11:00 CET on Wednesday (open to the public). Additionally, the open talent training session is set to take place at 15:00 CET. The last two training sessions before the home game against Bochum – at 11:00 CET on Thursday and Friday respectively – will take place behind closed doors.

Emotional send offs for Jantschke and Herrmann

Any lingering doubts about Borussia not remaining in the Bundesliga next season have dissolved away following the 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The match against Frankfurt was also marked by send-offs for Tony Jantschke and Patrick Herrmann.

On Matchday 33 of the Bundesliga, Borussia drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in their final home game of the season. Eric Dina Ebimbe cancelled out Robin Hack’s early opener.
