Voting begins for Borussia’s Player of the Month for November

Jonas Hofmann, Yann Sommer, Ramy Bensebaini and Alassane Plea are in the running to be Borussia’s Player of the Month for November, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Fans can now vote for their favourite in the FohlenApp.

The Foals played three Bundesliga games in November, with Yann Sommer (2x) and Jonas Hofmann being selected as the Man of the Match in those games. Ramy Bensebaini and Alassane Plea are also in the running for the POTM award, due to their strong performances in November.

Yann Sommer was twice voted the Man of the Match in November. The Swiss goalkeeper pulled off several incredible saves in the 1-1 draw against Mainz, including a fingertip save to push Jae-Sung Lee’s effort over the bar just after the change of ends. Sommer was the overwhelming favourite for the Man of the Match award on that occasion, receiving 88% of the vote. He then again received the honour with 46% of the vote following his performance in the 4-1 derby defeat against Köln. Sommer kept his side in the game with several good saves, before conceding three goals in the closing stages of the match.

Jonas Hofmann was voted Man of the Match following the 4-0 win at home against Greuther Fürth with 77% of the vote. Hofmann opened the scoring in the ninth minute after a give-and-go with Lars Stindl. He then netted his second of the match in the 57th minute, after combining with Stindl once again. The 29-year-old then netted his seventh goal of the season to equalise for the Foals (1-1) in the derby against Köln.

Alassane Plea started the match against VfL Bochum at the end of October, and contributed a goal and an assist to a 2-1 win. He then started each of the subsequent three games in November, and was a key presence in attack. He scored the third goal in a  4-0 win against Fürth, and narrowly missed getting on the scoresheet against Köln, as he sent a shot crashing against the post.

Ramy Bensebaini returned to the starting XI at the end of October after being out injured for nearly two months, and was immediately back to his old strength on the left. He started all three Bundesliga matches in November, always at left-back in a back three. His strength in winning challenges and his experience helped bring stability back to the Foals’ backline. He set up Florian Neuhaus’ goal against Mainz with a long-range shot, as the latter swept home the rebound.

Fans can vote for their Player of the Month until Friday (23:59 CET) in the FohlenApp.
