Wöber and Austria go top

Gladbach’s Max Wöber (Austria) and Simon Walde (Germany U19s) celebrated victories with their respective national sides on Thursday. Both players were in the starting XI.

Austria

Austria and Max Wöber (Photo: imago images/GEPA pictures/Johannes Friedl) had already booked their spot at next summer’s European Championships during the last international break. Ralf Rangnick’s side went one step further on Thursday, as they went top of Group F following a 2-0 win over Estonia. Wöber played the full 90 minutes as a left-back. Bundesliga players Konrad Laimer (26’) and Philipp Lienhart (40’) scored for Austria.
 

Germany U19s

Simon Walde
featured in the Germany U19 starting XI in their 3-1 win over Norway in a friendly which took place in Spain. Germany U19s went into half time 2-1 up thanks to goals from Luca Marino and Tom Bischof. Laurin Ulrich made it 3-1 in the 89th minute and put the game to bed. Walde has now made five appearances without loss for the Germany U19 side.
